仏法というのは、最高の道理なのです。
Buddhism is a teaching of unsurpassed reason.
ゆえに、信心の強盛さは、人一倍、研究し、工夫し、努力する姿となって表れなければなりません。そして、その挑戦のエネルギーを湧き出させる源泉が真剣な唱題です。それも誓願の唱題でなければならない。・・・Therefore, the strength of your faith must manifest itself in the form of studying, exercising your ingenuity, and making twice as much effort as anyone else. Earnest chanting is the wellspring for the energy to challenge these things. Your chanting must also be a pledge."
・・誓願というのは、自ら誓いを立てて、願っていくことです。祈りといっても、自らの努力を怠り、ただ、棚からボタモチが落ちてくることを願うような祈りもあります。それで良しとする宗教なら、人間をだめにしてしまう宗教です。日蓮仏法の祈りは、本来、誓願の唱題なんです。その誓願の根本は、広宣流布です。This means to make a vow of your own accord and pray to fulfill it. "OF COURSE, there are many ways of praying. Some people may pray that everything just falls into their laps without having to make any effort. But a religion that encourages such prayer will lead people to ruin. "Prayer in Nichiren Buddhism means to chant based on a pledge or vow. At its very core, this vow is to attain kosen-rufu.
つまり、“私は、このブラジルの広宣流布をしてまいります。そのために、仕事でも、必ず見事な実証を示してまいります。どうか、最大の力を発揮できるようにしてください”という、決意の唱題です。これが私たちの本来の祈りです。It means chanting resolutely with the determination: 'I will realize kosen-rufu in Brazil. Therefore, I will show magnificent actual proof in my work. Please enable me to somehow bring forth my greatest potential.' This is what our prayer should be like.
そのうえで、日々、自分のなすべき具体的な目標を明確に定めて、一つ一つの成就を祈り、挑戦していくことです。その真剣な一念から、知恵が湧き、創意工夫が生まれ、成功があるのです。つまり、『決意』と『祈り』、そして、『努力』と『工夫』が揃ってこそ、人生の勝利があります。"It is also important that we establish clear and concrete goals for what we hope to achieve each day and then pray and challenge ourselves to achieve each of them. This earnest determination gives rise to wisdom and resourcefulness, thereby leading to success. In short, to win in life we need determination and prayer, effort and ingenuity.
一攫千金を夢見て、一山当てようとしたり、うまい儲け話を期待するのは間違いです。それは、信心ではありません。それでは、観念です。It is misguided to dream of getting rich quick, expecting to encounter a rare stroke of luck or some shrewd money-making scheme. This is not faith. It is mere fantasy.
仕事は、生活を支える基盤です。その仕事で、勝利の実証を示さなければ、信心即生活の原理を立証することはできない。どうか、安易な姿勢はいっさい排して、もう一度、新しい決意で、全魂を傾けて、仕事に取り組んでください"Our work is the mainstay that supports our lives. Unless we show real evidence of victory in our work, we cannot demonstrate the principle that faith manifests itself in daily life. みなさん、こんにちは。
今回も、前回に引き続き「新人間革命」より引用しております。
ブラジルに移住した一人の壮年が、自分の仕事が上手くいっていないことの相談に対して先生が答えたものです。
生きるために、誰もが懸命に仕事に打ち込んでいる・・。
それを承知の上で、
その仕事がなぜうまくいかなかったのか、さまざまな角度から先生が質問していきますが、この壮年は、全くそれに答えることができません。
これを受けて、この指導に繋がっていきます。
仕事だけでなく、勉強だってそうです。
なんだって、仏法は道理。
なぜ、自分の生活にこの信心が必要なのか。
この信心で自分の何を引き出していくのか。
明確な祈りは、明確な人生の軌道を進んでいく力となるわけです。
