”その気持ち、よくわかる”
という人も多いでしょう。
Many people can relete to such feelings.
しかし、盲目的、病的になっては、
青春の負けです。
But you are only letting yourself down
if you fall victim to unhealthy obsessions
or are so blinded by love you can't see anythingelse.
何があろうと、強く生きなければならない。
弱くなってはいけない。
No matter what,
always do your best to live courageously,
to be strong-hearted.
青春は、前に向かって進むのです。
Youth is a time for advancing bravely into the future.
横に行ったり、後ろに回って
闇の中に隠れてしまってはいけない。
So please don't allow yourself to veer off course
or fall behind or hide in the shadows.
青春は、物事を悲観的に、
センチメンタルにとらえてはいけない。
Youth is not a time for pessimism or self-pity.
それは敗北者の論理です。
That mind-set is for losers.
”ああ、私の良さがわからないとは、
かわいそうな人だな”（笑い）と、
思うくらいでいい。
Instead, in the face of rejection,
I hope you will cultivate a resilient spirit,
that you will have the confidence to think:
" It's their loss if they can't appreciate how wonderful I am!"

失恋がなんですか。
Please don't let a broken heart discourage you.
”こんなことでつぶれてしまう
弱い自分じゃないよ”と自分を励ますのです。
Tell yourself that you're not so weak or fragile
that such a minor thing can bring you down.
今は、その人が、”世界で一番”のように
思えるかもしれないが、
これから出会う百人の中でも一番か。
千人の人と比べても一番か、
一万人の中でも一番かというと、
そうは言いきれないでしょう。
You may think no one could possibly
compare to the person you have lost.
But how will this person compare to
the next ten, the next hundred, the next thousand people
you will meet?
You cannot declare with certainty
that there won't be another who far surpasses
this person in your affections.
また、自分がどんどん成長していけば、
人間を見る目も変わってくるものです。
As you grow,
the way you look at people will change as well.
失恋した人もいるでしょう。
また、傷ついて、
「もう自分はダメなんだ」と
思っている人もいるかもしれない。
I'm sure quite a few among you have had your hearts broken
and felt unable to go on, your self-esteem in tatters.
けれども、絶対に、
自分はダメだなどど思ってはいけない。
But you must never think you are worthless.
宇宙全体の宝を集めたよりも、
かけがえのないあなたなんです。
No one can substitute for you,
who are more precious than all the treasures
in the universe put together.
たとえ、今、どんな境遇にあったとしても、
私は皆さんを、かけがえのない、”息子”であり、
”娘”であると信じている。
必ず立ち上がってくれると待っている。
No matter what your present circumstances,
you are irreplaceable.
Please hold on to that thought,
fight to overcome all obstacles and
rise out of all suffering and despair.
強くなるんです。
It is crucial that you become strong.
強くなれば、悲しみさえも栄養になる。
If you are strong,
even your sadness will become
a source of nourishment,
苦悩が自分を清めてくれる。
and the things that make you suffer
will purify your life.
自分が押しつぶされそうな苦しみの底の底で、
はじめて人生と生命の真髄が心にしみ通ってくるのです。
だから、苦しんだからこそ生きなければならない。
It is precisely because we have experienced great suffering
that we can grow strong and bacome capable adults.
前へ前へ進むんです。
What's important is to keep moving forward.
悲しみを糧にして、
もっと大きな自分になればいい。
If you use your sadness as a source of growth,
you will become a person of greater depth and breadth
- an even more wonderful you.
もっと素敵な自分になればいい。
苦しんだあなただからこそ、
そうなれるんです。
This is the harvest of your pain and suffering.
顔を上げるんです。
Hold your head high.
自分は一生懸命、生きたんだから、
本当は「勝利者」なんです。
Because you have lived with all your might,
you are a victor.
