時の権力者に従わないのなら
何が待っているかを。

しかし、この農民たちは
これを知っていただろうか。
But these mighty farmers,
Did you know this?
一連の緊迫した状況下で、
必死で助けようと奔走する
弟子の日興達の姿を
Under this tense situations,
the disciples Nikko and others
strived to rescue out somehow
そして、
この命を懸けた戦いを
弟子達を
And This life-threatening battle,
To these struggling Disciples,
大聖人は何と名付けて
手紙を書かれたのかを。
Nichiren send them a encouragement letter.

その名は
「聖人等御返事／Reply to the Sages」（1455）
「農民」、「門下」と呼ばずに、
「聖人」たちと呼んだことを。
Nichiren didn’t call you "farmers" or " followers "
He called to all these disciples, " Sages".
名もなき農民たちよ、
知っていただろうか。
Nameless farmers,
Did you know that?
あなたたちの戦いは、聖人の戦いなのだと。
Your battle was Saints’ battle.
平左衛門尉頼綱は、この農民たちに向かい、
13歳の息子に蟇目の矢をさんざん射らせたという。
It was said that the powerful Hei no Saemon had
his 13-year-old son shoot Hikime arrows
headed for these farmers a lot.
これは、人を殺めるためのものではなく、
人についている魔物を落とすためのものだという。

本気で処罰しようと思えば、こんな農民ごとき、
全員すぐ殺すこともできたはずなのだ。

頼綱は、ただ自分の信じるものを
彼の中の正義を貫こうとしたのかもしれない。

それと同時に、
時として”人の信念”というものは、
あらゆる権力にも屈することのない「力」を持つものなのだという
怒りに似た恐怖が湧いたのかもしれない。

矢で農民を射った、あなたの息子を知る者はいない。
No one knows your son, who shot farmers with arrows.
その一方、
処刑された身分なき農民の名が
称賛とともに、世界中に知れ渡っていることを。
On the other hand,
Mighty farmers name who was executed,
it is known all over the world with praise.
この信念はとどまることなく
脈々と後世の人間に受け継がれていく。

頼綱よ、
あなたは見えていただろうか。
Yoritsuna,
Did you see this?
あなたは結局、自分の長男の讒言により
農民を矢で射った息子と共に、
自分が死ななければならなくなることを。
You ended up caused by a slander of your eldest son.
You had to die with a son who shot farmers with arrows.
あなたを受け継ぐべき息子に滅ぼされることを。
Had to be destroyed by your son who should inherit you.
あなたが守りたかった一族がそれで消滅してしまうことを。
That the clan you wanted to protect had to be all disappear.
熱原の農民たちの魂の輝きだけを残し、
あなたもろとも、砂のように跡形もなく消え去ってしまうことを。
