| お久しぶりの「人間革命」 |
みなさん、こんにちは。
私は何年か前に、『人間革命について』の記事を書いていたのですが、
その時にご紹介しました、”小学生の子供たちに向けての先生のメッセージ”
これの英語版をやっと見つけました。
いや～、素晴らしい！
このメッセージ、本当に大好きなんです。
もう、何としても手に入れたかった！
もう、何としても手に入れたかった！
もう子供ではないのですが（笑）、とても分かりやすいですし、子供に対しても、こんなに本気で励ましのメッセージを送れる先生をとても尊敬しています。
そして、何よりもこの大好きなメッセージを英語で学べるというのはとても幸せなことです。
・・はい。この嬉しさが伝わったでしょうか。笑。
伝わらないようでしたら、そのまま軽く流していただければ。。笑。
これはだいぶ前（2013年）のメッセージですが、
将来、自分の子供へ、そして孫へとプレゼントしたい宝の言葉がつまっています。
財産は残せそうにありませんが（笑）、励ましの言葉は是非とも残してあげたい。

さあ、２０１４年のスタートです。少年少女部のみなさん、あけまして、おめでとうございます！もう、今年の目標を決めたという人もいるでしょう。自分は、どんな挑戦をしようか、今、ちょうど考えているという人もいるかもしれません。

学会は「世界広布新時代 開幕の年」というテーマをかかげ、さらなる前進を開始しました。
In 2014, the SGI has begun to further advance with the theme Year of Opening a New Era of Worldwide Kosen-rufu.
大きな目標は、創立１００周年を迎える２０３０年です。
Our big goal is the Soka Gakkai's one hundredth anniversary in 2030.
みんなが、学会の中心となって活躍しているころだね。
By that time, many of you will have become leaders playing a central role in our organization.
私にとって、最大の楽しみです。

ところで、みんなは、学会の先ぱい方が会合などで、新しい挑戦を決意するとき、
At SGI meetings, sometimes members share their determinations toward a new challenge.
よく「人間革命していきます！」と言われるのを聞いたことがありませんか？
I'm sure you've heard some of them say that they are going to "achieve their human revolution.”
「人間革命って、なんだかむずかしそうだな」と思ったことも、あるかもしれません。
You may have thought that human revolution is something hard to understand.
革命とは、かんたんに言えば、大きく変わることです。
But, simply put, revolution just means "a big change." 自分自身が大きく、より良く変わっていくことです。
So human revolution means "making a big change in yourself—a change for the better."
そのために大事なのは「心」です。
The key to this lies in your heart.
心を変えることです。
In other words, changing from the inside
そして、自分が、正しい方向へ、
and then powerfully moving forward in the right direction,
平和と幸福の方向へと、力強く進んでいくことです。
toward peace and happiness.
「人間って、心の持ち方一つで、強くなるもんだなあ」と、私の人生の師匠である戸田城聖先生が書かれた本に出てきます。
Mr. Toda wrote in one of his books, "People can become strong just by changing their attitude.さらに、“こんなむずかしいことできないよ” と思うか、よしやってやろうと思うか、紙一枚ほどのちがいだ。
He also wrote: "There's only a slight difference between thinking it's useless to even try and deciding to take on the challenge.
必死にがんばると、今まで持っているのに出せなかった力が、わいてくるんだ”──と。
If you really give it your all,you'll be able to bring out strength that you always had inside but never used before."
同じように、みんなも感じたことがあるんじやないかな？
Perhaps you've seen this in your own lives.
実際に、心が変われば、自分の行動が変わります。
行動が変われば、まわりの環境までも変わります。
And when your actions change,everything around you changes. 心が決まれば、すべてが開けるのです。
Making a determination unlocks all possibilities.
「人間革命」とは、
Human revolution is その人が、どんどん強く、正しく、立派になることです。
to keep trying to become a stronger and better person.
自分のことが、大好きになれるんです。
It is becoming absolutely happy with who you are.
目標や願いをかなえられる自分に、大きく成長していくことなのです。
It is growing into a person who can fulfill all your wishes and goals.みなさんのお父さんやお母さん、おじいさんやおばあさん、学会のお兄さんやお姉さん、同志の方々は、この「人間革命」に毎日毎日、挑戦しているのです。
Your fellow SGI members are working hard every day to do their human revolution.
それを可能にするのが唱題であり、学会活動です。
Chanting and doing SGI activities help us do that.
そうすれば、どんな時でも心に太陽をのぼらせ、希望を持つことができる。
Because we make such efforts, the sun always shines in our hearts and we are filled with hope.
創価学会は、この「人間革命」をしていく人々の集まりなのです。
The SGI is a group of people dedicated to doing their human revolution.

じつは、人間革命といっても、日ごろの生活の中にあります。
Actually, human revolution takes place right in our daily lives.
丈夫な体になることも、忘れ物をしなくなることも、めんどうな準備や後片づけができるようになることも、今までできなかったことが一つでもできるようになれば、全部、人間革命です。
Becoming able to do even one thing you were unable to do before is human revolution. For instance, becoming more physically fit, learning not to lose or forget things, or become willing to do boring chores.
勉強がきらいだった人が、「勉強しよう！」「努力しよう！」と決意して、一歩でも前進できたなら、それも、みごとな人間革命なのです。
If you don't like to study but decide to really make an effort and move forward even a single step, that's also a great example of human revolution.
たとえ、すぐに願った通りにならなくても、
Things might not go as you wish right away.
君やあなたが人間革命に挑戦していけば、自分では分からないかもしれないけれど、それまでの自分とは急速に大きく変わっています。ぐんぐん成長しています。
But if you keep trying, you are definitely changing and in a big way, even though you may not notice it.

私は、この人間革命ということを、戸田先生に教えていただきました。
Mr. Toda taught me about human revolution.
先ほど紹介した戸田先生の本も、『人間革命』という題名でした。
In fact, his book that I quoted from earlier is titled The Human Revolution.
そこでは、戸田先生がモデルの主人公が、「ぼくの一生は決まった！」と叫び、世界の平和と人類の幸福のための広宣流布を誓って終わります。
At the end of this novel, the main character, modeled after Mr. Toda himself, declares: "My life is now decided!" He pledges to devote himself to kosen-rufu for the sake of world peace and the happiness of all people.
その言葉通り、戸田先生は戦後、わずかな人数しかいなかった学会を大発展させ、
True to these words, after World War Ⅱ, Mr. Toda expanded the Soka Gakkai from a small group into a large organization.
日本の社会のなかに、平和と幸福の大道を開かれました。
This opened the great path toward building peace and happiness in Japanese society.
弟子の私は、この広宣流布の大事業を受け継ぐとともに、恩師の偉大な歴史と精神を後世に残すため、ペンをにぎりました。
As Mr. Toda's disciple, I carried on this noble task. As I mentioned before, I picked up my pen to leave behind a record of my mentor's inspiring life story and spirit.
師匠の偉大な人間革命の道に弟子が続くのが本物の師弟です。
A genuine disciple follows the mentor's great example.

I decided to also name my serialized novel The Human Revolution.
書き始めてから今年の12月で50年になります。

疲れてペンを持つ手に力が入らず、書く内容をテープに録音したこともありました。

日本中、世界中の同志が小説の掲載を待っているから、がんばりました。
I could continue because I knew readers throughout the world were waiting.
「人間革命の人生を伝えることが、みなの勝利と幸福につながる」と信じて、私は書き続けてきました。
I have kept writing because I believe that telling the stories of human revolution will lead to people's victory and happiness. 同志のみなさんのおかげで、新聞の連載回数は、この『人間革命』と、それに続く『新・人間革命』という二つの小説を合わせて6700回をこえました。ただただ、感謝でいっぱいです。今は聖教新聞に、大好きな創価小学校の歴史をちょうど書き残したところです。（第27巻「若芽」の章）

まさに戸田先生が、願われた通りになりました。
Mr. Toda's dream has come true.
太陽がのぼれば、すべてを明るく照らすように、
Just as the sun brightens everything when it rises,
一人の人間革命は、自分が輝き、まわりも輝かせます。
your human revolution makes both you and everything around you shine.
自分が明るくなれば、家の中も、クラスも明るくなる。
When you shine, you brighten up your family and your classroom.
クラスが明るくなれば、学校も明るくなる。
When your class begins to shine, your whole school begins to shine.
学校が明るくなれば、そこから素晴らしい人材が羽ばたいて社会も明るくなる。
And when your school shines, it will foster many capable people who will go out into society to make it a brighter place.
人類の歴史だって明るく変わっていくでしょう。
In this way, humanity's history as a whole will eventually change for the better. ＊＊＊＊
人間革命は、自分はこうなりたい！ こうなろう！と目標を決めて題目を唱え、祈るところから始まります。
Human revolution begins when you decide to achieve your goals and chant with that determination.
毎日、必ず新しい朝が来るように、毎日、新しい自分に成長していくのです。
Just as a new morning dawns each day, you become a new person each day.
「きょうこそ、がんばるぞ！」と新しい一日を、
I hope you will start each new day resolved to do your best.
「今年こそ、決めたことをやりぬくぞ！」と新しい一年を、どうかスタートしていってください。
I hope you will kick off the new year with the determination to realize your goals.
この一年を、大いなる「人間革命の年」にしていこう！
Let's make this year one of great human revolution!
「世界広布新時代」の開幕とは、みんなの人間革命の出発から始まるのです。
Opening a new era of worldwide kosen-rufu starts with each of you challenging yourself to do your own human revolution.

私は本当にこのメッセージが大好きで、何回も何回も読んでしまいます。
何て表現したらいいでしょうか、
”子供だろうと励ましの言葉に手加減しない”感じといいますか、「慈愛」ってきっとこういうことなんだろうなと思います。
心がポカポカしてきて、よし、がんばろって思うのです。
心の温度を上げるために、これからもずっとこのメッセージを読み続けます。
この、自分の「心の温度を上げる」っていう作業は、とても大切ですね。
心の温度は、自分の声に、態度にいつも出るからです。
また風邪がはやりはじめたようですので、皆様どうかお気を付けください！
