あらかじめ持っている
紋切り型のイメージに合わせて
切り取った情報が氾濫している。
Much of the information that
floods our world has been selected
and tailored to fit preconceived notions
and stereotypes.
戦争になったとき、
相手から攻撃されたシーンだけを、
テレビで流し続ければ、
国民の怒りは、かきたてられる。
In the extremity of wartime,
repeatedly airing scenes of "our side"
coming under attack
will incite and outrage the populace.
その場合、
自国の攻撃で他国の市民が阿鼻叫喚になっているシーンは
流さないのが普通である。
In contrast,
scene of the hellish misery inflicted on
the citizens of the other country
will rarely be broadcast.
メディアの発達が、かえって
「できあいのイメージを拡散する」危険も
大きいのである。
The growth and development of various media
can actually increase the danger of
proliferating stereotypes and ready-made images.
そんな落とし穴が、
